Sustainable Building Technologies – Community of Practise (SBTCP)

Karelia University of Applied Sciences has been an active player in the field of wood technology and wood construction. Wood construction became a key area of development already two decades ago, and in 2013 it was chosen as a strategic focus area in the strategy of Karelia UAS. Education and research have been systematically developed, and successful results have been achieved.
Wood construction has developed impressively during the last decade and it has become an important part of low carbon construction and sustainable building technologies. As with other sectors, the construction industry has written a roadmap for green transition.
This STBCP -project creates a new profile to this work. Especially this project will combine European level top knowledge in central fields of future research and development activities. Also, the top subjects in sustainable construction such as wood materials, the circle economy, low carbon solutions and digitalization will be in focus in this project implementation.
The future challenges and requirements by states and industry can only be tackled and reached when solutions are based on the systematic utilization of the best possible knowledge and expertise. Therefore, the project Sustainable Building Technologies – Community of Practise bridges the key experts to meet with those challenges.
