Professorship of Regenerative Urbanism

Vision and Mission

For the climate transition, building transition, mobility transition and soil transition to succeed, settlement areas must not be viewed from a purely technical urban planning perspective, which has attempted to dominate nature since the modern age. Instead, we need to understand the natural ecosystems and their dynamics as essential guard rails for the transformation of the urban-rural continuum.
The Chair of Regenerative Urbanism emphasises close cooperation between science, practice and municipalities in the sense of transdisciplinary and transformative spatial design approaches. With publications, exhibitions and research projects, we contribute to the forward-looking, regenerative development of places and cross-border regions. We work in diverse interdisciplinary co-operations and in exchange on a local, regional and international level.
