Information on data subject rights
According to Art. 15 GDPR, you have the right to obtain, free of charge, information about whether your personal data concerning you is being processed and, where that is the case, what personal data is concerned. You can demand a copy of the data as long as no statutory exception applies. You can also demand information about the concrete circumstances and the probable period required for processing. Based on knowledge of the processing of your personal data, you also have the following rights:
If the data is incomplete or inaccurate, you have the right to demand rectification according to Art. 16 GDPR.
According to Art. 17 GDPR, you have the right to erasure of your personal data if one of the grounds stated there applies and there are no barriers to erasure, e.g. statutory retention obligations.
According to Art. 18 GDPR, you have the right to require the restriction of processing of your personal data in the cases specified there.
If personal data is processed based on your consent or on a contract, Art. 20 GDPR specifies that you have the right to have your personal data transmitted to another data controller. Instead of this transfer, you can demand that you receive your personal data in a commonly used format.
According to Art 21 GDPR, you have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation and consequent unreasonableness of processing, to an otherwise legally permissible processing of your personal data. Until a decision is reached on this objection, you can demand restriction of processing according to Art. 18 GDPR.

Information on processing when you use our website
When users use our website, their data is processed. As this can potentially occur for any user without an explicit request to enter the data, an overview of this possible processing is provided below. The following information according to Art. 12 – 14 GDPR is provided relating to data processing during use of our website:
Access data / server logfiles
The website operator (or the webspace provider) obtains data every time a user accesses the website (so-called server logfiles). Included in the access data are:
name of the accessed website, file, date and time of access, data volume transferred, report of successful access, browser type and version, user's operating system, referrer URL (of the previously visited site), IP address and the requesting provider.
The website operator uses this logfile data for the following purposes:
- For statistical analysis to facilitate operation and optimise the website. The statistical analysis does not include the IP address, so individual users cannot be identified. Data is processed and statistics are compiled according to Art. 6, Sec. 1 (f) GDPR, which provides for processing for the purposes of a legitimate interest in optimising operation and the website. Due to the anonymisation, the statistics resulting from the processing do not allow any identification of a particular user, therefore the interests of the user do not override the legitimate interests of the website operator.
- For the purposes of detecting and remedying disruptions, the data is processed for up to 7 days after the end of the use of our website. Data processing is based on Art. 6, Sec. 1 (f) GDPR, whereby our legitimate interest is in the security and safeguarding of operations. Here, the processing serves the purpose of detecting complex and longer-term attack patterns. If within the 7 days there are no concrete indications of a disruption which would require the data for its remedy, the data is erased.
If there are concrete signs of a disruption, unauthorised tapping into or other illegal utilisation, the data required for remedy of the disruption and for evidence will be processed beyond the 7-day limit until this is no longer necessary for these purposes. The processing occurs on the basis of Art. 6, Sec. 1 (f) GDPR, whereby the legitimate interest is the remedy of the disruption and the preservation of evidence.

Cookies are small files which save information to your access device (PC, smartphone etc.) relating to the device. They recognise the device the next time it accesses the website and can be used to increase the website's user-friendliness (e.g. by saving login data or your preferred language). They can also be used to log statistical data on website use which can be analysed to improve the website.
We process your data based on our legitimate interest according to Art. 6, Sec. 1 (f) GDPR, i.e. the legitimate interest of Jade University of Applied Sciences in increasing user-friendliness or enabling us to improve our website.
As a user, you can influence the use of cookies on your devices. Most browsers offer an option to restrict or entirely prevent the saving of cookies. You can also display and delete cookies already saved. If you use several browsers (e.g. Chrome and Firefox) on one device, you need to make the required settings in every browser. Please note that the use and above all the user-friendliness of the website may be restricted without cookies.
You can administer many online ad cookies from companies on the US website http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or the EU website http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/.

Integration of external content
GoogleMaps
The website contains integrated maps from GoogleMaps to show the locations of the Jade University of Applied Sciences campuses. GoogleMaps maps are a product of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. When you access a page with an integrated map, your browser normally creates a direct connection to the Google servers. This informs Google that your computer has accessed the corresponding page on our website. It also provides Google with the IP address of your computer and information about your browser. Google also receives this information if you do not have a Google account. If you are logged in to your Google account when you access the page, Google may be able to establish a direct link to your account. If you use certain Google services on the device you use to access the page and have not refused access to your location data, Google may process your location data when you access the page with the map material. It can be assumed that Google uses this personal data not only for user comfort, optimisation and prevention of misuse, but also for advertising purposes. For more information about Google's privacy policy, go to policies.google.com/privacy. There you will also find information on how you can restrict processing of your data by Google. Jade University of Applied Sciences has no influence on data processing by Google. We are also unable to reliably check the veracity of Google's statements on processing personal data.
Embedded YouTube videos
The website contains embedded YouTube videos. They are integrated in the extended data protection mode so that personal data is only transferred to YouTube and Google when you start a video. YouTube is a subsidiary of Google, therefore the operator is Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. When you access a video, your browser normally creates a direct link to the Google servers. This informs Google that your computer has accessed the corresponding page on our website. It also provides Google with the IP address of your computer and information about your browser. Google also receives this information if you do not have a Google account. If you are logged in to your Google account when you start the video, Google may be able to establish a direct link to your account. Furthermore, starting the video triggers a contact with Google's DoubleClick advertising network. It cannot be ruled out that any DoubleClick cookies already on your computer are read off. To prevent this, you can delete the cookies and alter your browser settings.
